This Privacy Policy explains how PRK ("PRK," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the PRK mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By using PRK, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and phone number. This is used to look up your tickets, communicate about your disputes, and let you sign in.
Vehicle & ticket information
Your license plate, registration state, and the details of any parking summons you dispute (violation code, date, time, location, fine amount).
Photos
Ticket scans and evidence photos you attach to a dispute (for example, a photo of missing or obstructed signage). These are used to build your dispute and, where you consent, are analyzed by AI providers as described in Section 3.
Location data
With your permission, we collect approximate and precise location to show nearby parking regulations, street cleaning schedules, and to help you find your car. Location is used only during active searches — it is not tracked continuously in the background beyond what's needed for features you've turned on, like auto-detecting when you've parked.
Payment information
Card details are collected and stored directly by our payment processor, Stripe. PRK stores only a Stripe customer ID and payment method reference — never your full card number.
Usage data
Basic diagnostic and usage information (app version, crash logs) to help us keep the Service working correctly.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To look up and track your parking tickets and disputes
- To draft and file dispute letters with the NYC Department of Finance
- To process payments — a fee is charged only when a dispute is won
- To show relevant parking regulations, alerts, and navigation
- To communicate with you about your account or disputes
- To improve and secure the Service
3. AI Processing — Who Sees Your Ticket Data
PRK uses artificial intelligence to draft dispute letters and to check your ticket scan for defects. This section explains exactly where that data goes.
By default, your ticket's structured details (plate, violation, date/time/location) are sent to Tencent's hy3 model, via OpenRouter, to draft the dispute letter. Any attached ticket scan or photo is sent separately to Google Gemini first, which reads what's printed on it (plate, vehicle description, meter number, etc.) — this text description is what lets the drafting model account for defects that are only visible in the image itself. Both use PRK's own API keys.
If you supply your own API key in Settings › AI Model — for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or OpenRouter — your ticket details and photos are sent to that provider instead, billed to your own account with that provider. Keys you enter are stored only on your device and are never sent to PRK's servers.
Possible AI recipients of your ticket data, depending on configuration:
- Google (Gemini)
- OpenRouter, which routes to Tencent's hy3 model by default
- OpenAI (only if you add your own key)
- Anthropic (only if you add your own key)
Human review. No AI-drafted letter is filed automatically. Every letter is reviewed by a person before it is submitted to the city, and can be revised or regenerated before filing.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With the NYC Department of Finance, to file your dispute
- With Stripe, to process payments
- With AI providers, as described in Section 3
- With Google Firebase, for authentication and secure data storage
- When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of PRK and its users
5. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your account and dispute data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to comply with legal or recordkeeping obligations related to filed disputes. See how to delete your account and data for the full process, including what's deleted and how long it takes.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted network connections and access controls on our backend systems. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Choices
- You can decline location permissions; some features (nearby alerts, navigation) will not work without them
- You can use PRK's built-in AI model and never add a third-party key, or vice versa
- You can clear your locally stored data at any time
- You can request access to or deletion of your data by contacting us
8. Children's Privacy
PRK is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective" date at the top of this page.
